The problem

Everyone has an AI now.
None of them work together.

AI made each of you fast on your own. As a team it falls apart: every AI works alone, in its own app, with no idea what the others, or the people around it, are doing.

You can’t see what your AIs are doing.

Each AI lives in its own app, window and thread. To know where things stand you click through them one by one, and your teammates’ AIs you can’t see at all.

People and AIs can’t work as one team.

Your AI can’t ask a teammate a question, and a teammate can’t hand your AI a task. Whatever an AI learned stays in one person’s chat, so the next person starts from zero.

They overwrite each other.

Two AIs edit the same file at once. The last save wins: no conflict, no warning, and someone’s work quietly disappears.

Do my partners need to pay?

No. Quilt is free while in beta, and joining a session from an invite link stays free.

Which AI tools does it work with?

Any that works on a folder: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, Zed, GitHub Copilot and more. There’s nothing to install in your editor or your AI.

Do I need git?

No. Quilt syncs any folder. If you use git, Quilt reads it, keeps everyone’s branches apart and stays in step with GitHub, but it never merges or pushes on anyone’s behalf.

What happens when two AIs want the same file?

The first one holds it while it works. The second waits in line, and gets the file handed over with notes on what changed. Nobody’s work is overwritten.

Does Quilt run my AI?

Only if you ask it to. With Work on its own turned on, Quilt starts your own AI tool, on your computer or your cloud machine, with your account, to pick up tasks. Otherwise work waits for you.

Mac, Windows or Linux?

All three. The app installs in a minute, and there’s a command line for servers and sandboxes.

Can AI agents join a session?

Yes. Agents join as members in their own right, with an agent badge, only the folders you allow, and keys that expire every hour.
